CHICAGO CHAPTER PROGRAM
Friday, September 9, 2005
Hope
you are having a great summer! For our kickoff event in September, we have an exciting
program lined up. Brigadier General Nick Halley (U.S. Army, Retired) will be our
speaker in September- he will talk on leadership and the role we can play as consultants.
As
consultants, we all have own war stories, but nothing like the war stories that
our speaker has to share about leadership in tough situations like Vietnam and
Desert Storm where thousands of lives are at stake. But there’s more- at
the end of the talk, General Halley will also have a Q&A session where he will
also answer questions and share insights on current affairs such as the Middle
East and terrorism.
This is one to bring
your clients and prospective members to. The
topic is hot and the stories and insights are very memorable. We expect a large
crowd, so get your reservations in early. We hope everyone can bring at least
one or more guest or client to this special event.
Please note-
we are having this in a new location,
Mission Hills Country Club in Northbrook,
which
gives us more room and gets us away from the tollbooth congestion near the O’Hare
area. See below for directions.
Brigadier General Nick Halley
(U.S. Army, Retired) is a recognized expert on leadership, terrorism, change management
and integrity. Nick works with people and organizations that want to educate, inspire,
and motivate their leaders to take action now and be better leaders and followers
in their organizations. He has commanded thousands of our soldiers in combat in
three different conflicts. He is an army paratrooper, ranger and special operations
veteran and has been awarded many significant decorations, including two Silver
Stars for bravery in combat actions, four Bronze Stars, and two Purple Hearts.
His final active duty assignment was the Commanding General
of the artillery and rocket forces in Desert Storm, where he commanded tens of thousand
of our
soldiers in the most challenging leadership environment - combat. Since his
retirement from the Army, General Halley has had a distinguished civilian career
at the Director/Vice President/General Manager level with several prestigious
international electronics firms, including Motorola.
General Halley is a graduate of the United States Military
Academy at West Point (where he later served as assistant professor of mathematics)
and the Army War
College. He holds a master's degree in nuclear physics from the University of
Virginia. Currently, he is the on-air military and terrorism expert for WGN-TV
in Chicago. General Halley is the author of two books, "Leadership
Under Fire!" and "Terrorism - The Target Is
You!"
After retiring from military service and before becoming a professional speaker
and author, General Halley was a consultant like us, serving major companies such
as Motorola.
General
Halley will share the 13 leadership principles he has learned from the
military that can and should be applied to private enterprise, whether our own consulting
business or at our clients.
